Former Real Estate Boss Of China Who Runs Trillion Loans Arrested In Batam

JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections arrested a Chinese government fugitive with the initials WZ (58), a former president director of a real estate company suspected of being involved in a corporate loan case worth 980 million yuan or around Rp. 2.2 trillion.

Director of Immigration Intelligence Kombes Agus Waluyo said WZ failed to pay off a corporate loan, then fled abroad. The arrests were made at the official request of the Chinese government.

"The handling of the WZ was carried out based on a diplomatic note from the RRT Embassy in Jakarta. WZ was arrested in the Nagoya area, Batam, on Thursday, November 13, 2025," Agus said at a press conference in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, November 18.

The WZ has been designated by the Chinese police as the perpetrators of financial crimes and is on the wanted list. However, instead of facing the legal process, he chose to flee his country.

Agus explained that WZ had moved to a number of Asian countries since August 2025 before arriving in Indonesia on October 7 using a visit visa upon arrival (VOA) and settled in Batam.

Based on a diplomatic note received by the Directorate General of Immigration, the prosecution team from the Special Class I Immigration Office of the Batam TPI then carried out intensive monitoring until they finally arrested WZ.

"Without a fight, WZ can be secured by a team from immigration," said Agus.

Head of the Batam Hajar Aswad Immigration Office said there had been no detailed explanation from the Chinese government regarding the mode of financial crime committed by WZ. He only called WZ categorized as financial fugitive, namely the perpetrators who fled the jurisdiction of the law to avoid the judicial process.

"This diplomatic note was submitted to the Directorate General of Immigration as of November 11," said Aswad.

Currently, WZ is a detainee for further investigation. The Directorate General of Immigration has also coordinated with the Chinese government to follow up on the legal process in accordance with applicable diplomatic provisions and mechanisms.
