JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission E of DKI Regional Representative Council (DPRD DKI) Anggara Wicitra Sastroamidjojo asked the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan to anticipate a potential spike in COVID-19 cases after this year's Eid holiday by conducting random tests in markets and offices.

"Public health centers (Puskesmas) in DKI Jakarta needs to do a random antigen swab test in public facilities, such as markets and offices. The tests should be done before the peak of backflow so that positive case findings will not accumulate", Anggara said in his statement, Wednesday, May 19.

Anggara said, this random test effort needed to be done because there was a significant increase in active cases of COVID-19 when there was a mobilization of residents during long holidays. The increase in cases in Jakarta once occurred by 34 percent during the end of the 2020 holidays.

Then, for treatment efforts, Commission E proposes to the DKI Jakarta Health Office to be on standby to optimize health facility services.

At least, Anggara said, the facilities must accommodate the infrastructure needed in handling COVID-19, such as the addition of isolation rooms, ICU rooms and the availability of oxygen cylinders for ventilators.

"This is a risk that must be anticipated. Don't let it be missed again and we are overwhelmed by the spike in cases after Eid", he said.

Based on cases as of May 18, there was an increase of 291 positive cases. The number of active cases in Jakarta has increased by 140 cases, bringing the number of active cases to this day at 7.433.

Meanwhile, the total number of Confirmation cases in Jakarta to date is 419.920 cases.

Of the total number of positive cases, the total number of people declared to have recovered was 405.357 with a cure rate of 96.5 percent, and a total of 7.130 people died with a mortality rate of 1.7 percent.

The positivity rate or percentage of positive cases in the last week in Jakarta was 8.6 percent, while the percentage of positive cases in total was 10.9 percent.
