Update On COVID-19 As Of May 18: 4.185 New Cases, 87.514 Active Cases

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 79.748 specimens were examined with the results of 4.185 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 1.748.230 people and 87.514 active cases", he was quoted as saying from the Ministry of Health's data, Tuesday, May 18.

Cases recovered today increased by 5.628 cases so that a total of 1.612.239 people recovered. Then, the confirmed positive cases who died increased by 172 people and a total of 48.477 people.

The province with the newest cases is in West Java with 1.119 cases and a total of 299.784 cases. Followed by Central Java, which has 561 new cases with a total of 191.184 cases. Riau has 321 new cases and a total of 52.311 cases. Then, West Sumatra has 230 new cases and a total of 40.609 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to West Java with an increase of 1.607 recovered cases. Followed by Central Java with an additional 637 recovered cases, Riau with an additional 577 recovered cases, and Bangka Belitung with an additional 308 recovered cases.

There are three provinces that reported no new cases today. The provinces that reported zero new cases were North Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua.

In addition, the number of specimens that had been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigen reached 15.632.435.

"Positive results per number of specimens examined or this week's positivity rate was 18.86 percent", he wrote.

For the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, it was recorded at 76.827. Currently, 510 districts/cities from 34 provinces have COVID-19 cases.

Currently, there are 13.951.975 people who have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 9.247.600 vaccines for the second dose. Meanwhile, the total target of vaccination stages 1 and 2 reached 40.349.049 people.
