Ujung Kulon National Park Tourism Closed Until May 30

JAKARTA - The natural tourism destination Ujung Kulon National Park (TNUK) located on the western side of Java Island in Pandeglang Regency, Banten, is officially closed again temporarily until May 30.

It is known based on Circular Letter (SE) from Ujung Kulon National Park Hall (BTNUK) Number: SE.04/T.12/TU/P3/5/2021 dated May 17, 2021, that all tourist attractions in the National Park Area are temporarily closed.

Public Relations of Ujung Kulon National Park Hall, Andri Firmansyah in his statement in Tangerang, Monday, said the decision to close the conservation-based natural attractions was a follow-up to the instruction of the Governor of Banten, Wahidin Halim, dated May 15 and the Circular Letter of the Regent of Pandeglang, Irna Narulita requesting that all tourist attractions be temporarily closed.

"As of today (Monday 17 May) officially closed, we follow the instructions of the Governor and the Circular of the Regent dated May 16 yesterday," said Andri as quoted by Antara, Monday, May 17.

He confirmed that his group will follow every policy and instruction taken by the government regarding efforts to break the chain of COVID-19 spread in tourist attractions.

"If it is revoked before May 30, yes we will follow. If we get to May 30th, we'll follow. So whatever and what the outcome is like, we will still follow what the government has set out," he said.

However, it requested that Banten Provincial Government and Pandeglang Regency immediately find solutions and other alternatives for the affected communities directly from the temporary closure of tourist attractions, especially for existing tourist managers.

"Hopefully the closure of tourist attractions in Banten will give good results to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Banten Provincial Government and Pandeglang Regency should also look for alternatives to encourage economic growth for the people in every tourist attraction, especially tourists," he said.
