Odong-odong In Temanggung Prohibited From Transporting Passengers After Protesting Hundreds Of Angkot Drivers

JAKARTA - The drivers of public transportation in Temanggung Regency, Central Java (Central Java), held a demonstration at the Temanggung Youth Building demanding that the local government prohibit odong-odong from operating carrying public passengers.

Temanggung Regent Agus Setyawan said that his party had sent a letter to odong-odong business actors through Circular Number 550/7/2025, so that they were not allowed to transport passengers on public routes.

In addition to these demands, hundreds of these drivers also demanded other problems, such as the practice of manipulation of subsidized fuel barcodes (BBM), and the involvement of minors as motorcyclists, as well as rejection of the discourse on the presence of Trans Central Java in the Temanggung area.

"When we see odong odong, it is very dangerous for users and we have also made it difficult for odong odong perpetrators," Agus said when receiving hundreds of public transport drivers, in Temanggung, Tuesday, as reported by Antara.

Regarding the presence of minors who use motorbikes, he said that his party had sent Circular Letter Number 330/11/2025 to schools to prohibit minors from using motorbikes.

In addition, the Regent of Temanggung also asked the school to coordinate with the city transportation (angkot) management to carry out pick-up packages for students.

"I have asked the Head of Education Office to follow up on this problem," he said.

He added that specifically for Trans Jateng vehicles which are still in the discourse to serve the community on the Magelang-Temanggung City route, his party together to coordinate this.

"Until now Temanggung still rejects Trans Jateng, considering that it will have an impact on public transportation, while Pertamina will explain the barcode problem, we hope that the standby in Temanggung can be resolved immediately," he said.

Meanwhile, Pertamina Patra Niaga Representative of Central Java, Reza said that the barcode system can actually only be held by individuals, but there are still people who abuse this.

"If there are obstacles in purchasing diesel or premium, immediately contact us, so that we can track down who is using it, thus strict action is taken immediately. The drivers of public transportation consider that this problem has a huge impact on their income, on the other hand, underage motorcycle users are also prone to traffic accidents.

"We need firmness from the Government and police officers to prohibit odong-odong from operating," said one representative of public transport driver Yoyok.
