Mount Lewotobi Men Erupt, Vomit Abu Capai 1,000 Meters

JAKARTA - Mount Lewotobi Male in East Flores Regency (Flotim), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), erupted with a height of approximately 1,000 meters of ash ponds.

"There was an eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki, on September 19, 2025 at 14:32 WITA with a height of approximately 1,000 ash column above the peak or approximately 2,584 meters above sea level," said Mount Lewotobi Volcano Observation Post (PGA) Officer Herman Yosef S Mboro in a written report received in Labuan Bajo, Friday, confiscated by Antara.

He added that in the eruption the height of the ash column was observed to be gray with thick intensity leaning towards the north and northeastern.

The eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 7.4 millimeters (mm) and a duration of approximately two minutes 12 seconds.

Meanwhile, currently Mount Lewotobi Men are at Level III (Alert) Status, therefore, the public and visitors are advised not to carry out any activities within a six km radius of the Men's Lewotobi Mountain eruption center.

The public is also advised to be calm and follow the directions of the local government and not to believe in issues whose sources are unclear.

People around Mount Lewotobi Male are asked to be aware of the potential for rain lava flooding in rivers that originate at the top of Mount Lewotobi Men in the event of high-intensity rain, especially the areas of Dulipali, Padang Pasir, Nobo, Nu Selapolen, Klatanlo, Hokeng Jaya, Boru, and Nawakote villages.

People affected by the ash rain of Mount Lewotobi Male are also asked to wear masks or nose coverings to avoid the danger of volcanic ash in the respiratory system.
