Deputy Governor (Deputy Governor) of North Kalimantan (Kaltara), Ingkong Ala, met Member of Commission IV DPR RI, Hasan Saleh in Jakarta on Saturday, August 23.
The two discussed the development of the marine and fisheries sector in the 34th province of the Republic of Indonesia.
"We want to increase the production and competitiveness of marine and fishery commodities in Kaltara, both nationally and internationally," said Deputy Governor Ingkong in a written statement, Sunday, August 24.
Ingkong said that the potential for large fisheries in Kaltara is very large, ranging from capture fisheries to cultivation.
"However, Kaltara still needs the right infrastructure, technology and policy support from the central government," he said.
"For this reason, we ask for the support of Commission IV of the DPR RI to be able to accelerate the development of supporting infrastructure, such as laboratories and other supporting equipment," he added.
Responding to this, Member of Commission IV DPR RI, Hasan Saleh welcomed this initiative and promised to forward it to the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries.
"This meeting is a concrete first step to increase the production of the marine and fisheries sector in Kaltara. The synergy between the executive and the legislature is considered crucial to solve challenges and ensure development runs according to government programs and targets as well as the needs of local communities, especially in Kaltara," he said.
