JAKARTA - The Police Science Institute or STIK-PTIK is exploring cooperation with Russian academics to expand studies on security, social conditions, and policing patterns in the ASEAN region.

The exploration was discussed during the visit of international relations and ASEAN expert, Dr. Nikita Kuklin, to STIK-PTIK, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 14.

Kuklin is an expert at the ASEAN Centre as well as an assistant professor at the Department of Oriental Studies, MGIMO University, Moscow. The university, which is under the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is known as one of the centers for educating diplomats and studying international relations.

The visit was received by Inspector General of Police Prof. Dr. Cryshnanda together with the Head of STIK-PTIK, Inspector General of Police Dr. Eko Rudi Sudarto and the Head of the Police Study Center Task Force, Inspector General of Police Dr. Susilo Teguh R.

Cryshnanda said the meeting was a first step to explore cooperation and enrich the study on current security and social conditions that can be developed at STIK-PTIK.

The conversation did not stop at the institutional relationship. Kuklin also followed the recording of a radio broadcast with Eko Rudi Sudarto, Dr. Eduardus Lemanto, and Dr. Lubis.

They discussed the ASEAN security situation, security challenges and public order, as well as policing patterns that can be applied to face social changes in the region.

Before concluding the visit, Kuklin again discussed the possibility of follow-up with Cryshnanda, Eko Rudi Sudarto, and Susilo Teguh R. The form and schedule of cooperation will still be discussed further.
