JAKARTA - Russia plans to modernize at least 75 airports by 2030, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said on a visit to a new terminal construction site at Blagoveshchensk International Airport.
"The connectivity between Russian regions is an important priority. That is why we are reconstructing airport infrastructure and large-scale airfields across the country," said PM Mishustin, launching TASS July 27.
"Since the beginning of this year, four new terminals have been inaugurated and have served flights - at Novokuznetsk, Tyumen, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, and Mineralnye Vody," he said.
"Based on the president's directives, at least 75 airport facilities must be modernized by 2030. Almost all areas in Russia's Far East are included in this program," explained PM Mishustin.
He noted that some 20 airport facilities had been upgraded over the past six years, with more than 20 additional increases planned over the next five years.
In addition, PM Mishustin also emphasized the role of private investment in efforts to modernize this airport.
In a meeting to develop airport and airport infrastructure in May, PM Mishustin said modern, complete and easily accessible airports are critical to improving state connectivity, making air travel more accessible to citizens, and encouraging economic development in Russian regions, citing the Russian Government website.

"It is important that these airports must be modern complexes with comfortable services, adequate logistics, comfortable lounges, and opportunities to get baggage quickly. All of this must be considered in designing these facilities, which, by the way, have been done, for example, in this complex," he said.
