Ahead Of Eid Al-Fitr, Puan Maharani Reminds The Government To Strictly Prohibit Homecoming And Make Sure There Is Enough Food Supply

JAKARTA - Chairman of the House of Representatives (DPR), Puan Maharani, asked the government to strictly implement policies related to Eid al-Fitr 1442 Hijri. Especially regarding the prohibition of homecoming.

The PDIP Party politician stated that she would continue to oversee the government policy. Puan asked the officers to work with discipline, assertiveness, but humane and courteous in dealing with residents who insisted on going home to their hometowns.

She hopes that the public understands that the homecoming prohibition is carried out to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.

"So that the implementation and supervision in the field will be consistent", said Puan in the plenary opening of the trial period of 2020-2021 at the DPR building, Jakarta, Thursday, May 6.

In addition, Puan also asked the government to ensure the availability and adequacy of staple food supplies throughout the region ahead of Eid al-Fitr.

"Price stability must also be maintained so that people are not burdened with increasing prices for basic necessities", said Puan.

In the plenary session, Puan also discussed the latest developments in several regions of India, the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia, which are facing the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, there are cases of the entry of a new type of virus mutation into Indonesia.

She also mentioned the KRI Nanggala 402 incident which must be the government's introspection to prepare a reliable state defense system, including ensuring the security and safety of soldiers in carrying out their duties.

Puan also reminded the government's steps in safeguarding the territorial sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia which would take firm action against the Papuan Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in accordance with the provisions of the applicable law.
