JAKARTA - Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono has pushed for an increase in the UK-ASEAN concrete collaboration to maintain sustainable peace and development in the region, at the ASEAN UK Post Ministerial Conference (PMC) Meeting which took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Friday.

During the meeting, Foreign Minister Sugiono highlighted the dangers of transnational crime such as online scams and human trafficking, which are considered to have the potential to disrupt economic stability and security in the region.

"We welcome British support in increasing law enforcement capacity, training, and sharing intelligence information. This is important to suppress increasingly complex transnational crimes," said Foreign Minister Sugiono, launching a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Friday, July 11.

Foreign Minister Sugiono further conveyed the importance of marine connectivity as a driver of regional growth and resilience. In this regard, the Indonesian Foreign Minister assessed that Britain, which has a long history in maritime and shipping trade, can become a strategic partner in strengthening ASEAN maritime connectivity.
