ESDM Reveals The Names Of Companies That Get Mining Permits From The Government In Raja Ampat And Other Islands

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) released five mining companies that have permits to operate in the Raja Ampat area, Southwest Papua, with five of its mining sites.

Based on an official statement from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources received in Raja Ampat, Southwest Papua, Sunday, the five islands targeted by mining companies were Gag Island, Manuran Island, Batang Pele Island, Kawe Island, and Waigeo Island.

The following are five mining companies in the Raja Ampat area, Southwest Papua.

Companies with permission from the central government:

1. PT Gag Nickel

Generation VII Contract Holders (KK) with an area of 13,136 hectares on Gag Island have entered the Production Operation stage based on the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 430.K/30/DJB/2017 which is valid until November 30, 2047.

The company already has an AMDAL (Environmental Impact Analysis) document in 2014, then an AMDAL Addendum in 2022, and a Type A A A A AMD Addendum issued last year by the Minister of Environment and Forestry. Meanwhile, IPPKH (Lending Permit to Use Forest Areas) was issued in 2015 and 2018.

The arrangement of the Work Area (PAK) was issued in 2020. Until 2025, the total mining openings reached 187.87 Ha, with 135.45 Ha having been reclamationd. PT Gag Nickel has not disposed of wastewater because it is still waiting for the issuance of an Operational Feasibility Certificate (SLO).

2. PT Anugerah Surya Pratama (ASP)

This company has an IUP Production Operation based on the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 912010511135050013 which was issued on January 7, 2024 and is valid until January 7, 2034. The area has an area of 1,173 Ha on Manuran Island.

For environmental aspects, PT ASP already has AMDAL documents in 2006 and UKL-UPL in the same year from Raja Ampat Regent.

Companies with permission from local governments:

1. PT Mulia Raymond Perkasa (MRP)

This company is the holder of the IUP from the Decree of the Regent of Raja Ampat No. 153.A of 2013 which is valid for 20 years until February 26, 2033 and covers the area of 2,193 Ha on Batang Pele Island. Activities are still at the exploration stage (landing) and do not yet have environmental documents or environmental approval.

2. PT Kawei Sejahtera Mining (KSM)

PT KSM has an IUP with the legal basis of the Regent's Decree No. 290 of 2013, which is valid until 2033 with an area of 5,922 Ha on Kawe Island. For the use of the area, the company holds an IPPKH based on the Decree of the Minister of Environment and Forestry in 2022. Production activities have been carried out since 2023, but currently no production activities are ongoing.

3. PT Nurham

IUP holder based on the Decree of the Regent of Raja Ampat No. 8/1/IUP/PMDN/2025 has a permit until 2033 with an area of 3,000 hectares on Waigeo Island. The company has had environmental approval from the Raja Ampat Regency Government since 2013. Until now the company has not produced.
