The police have named two people as suspects in the case of confiscation of land belonging to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in Pondok Betung, Pondok Aren, South Tangerang (Tangsel).

The two suspects are the Chairman of the South Tangerang Grib Jaya DPC with the initials MYT. While one other person, with the initials Y, claimed to be the heir of the 12 hectares of land.

"Both of them have been named suspects by investigators," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi, Monday, May 26.

Ade Ary explained that the GRIB Jaya mass organization claimed to have a girik over the BMKG land in Pondok Betung, Pondok Aren, South Tangerang. The confession was based on the confession of suspect Y, which turned out after being investigated by the police, Y did not even know the girik number.

Having no girik, Y was determined to give power to the GRIB Jaya mass organization to occupy the land belonging to the BMKG.

"Then suspect Y claimed the land on the basis of girik rights but did not know the girik number, the area of the girik and could not show the girik investigator in question," said Ade Ary.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the South Tangerang GRIB DPC with the initials MYT ordered its members to occupy the land, even renting the land to a number of food traders.

"(Chairman of DPC Grib Jaya) His role is to order members, and rent them out to homeowners at seafood at a rate of Rp. 11.9 million. Then rent them out to traders of sacrificial animals amounting to Rp. 22 million," said Ade Ary.

The two suspects were charged with Article 167 of the Criminal Code regarding the suspicion of occupying a closed yard without rights. In addition, they are also suspected of committing a criminal act of embezzlement of assets belonging to the BMKG.

Previously, 17 members of the GRIB Jaya mass organization were arrested. Two people were named suspects, while 15 other members had been sent home after undergoing examination.
