JAKARTA - Maintaining physical and mental health can now be done through fun activities that nourish the body while strengthening social relationships.

The combination of light physical exercises such as Senam Andrie Wongso (Senam AW) and the dynamic rhythm of line dance is increasingly favored by the public as part of an urban healthy lifestyle.

The fitness activity which combines body movements and interactions between residents was held at Livehouse Kelapa Gading, Jakarta, on Friday, July 24. Hundreds of participants from various backgrounds, especially residents of the Bukit Gading Mediterania housing, seemed enthusiastic about following each series of movements since morning.

The AW gymnastics is known to have simple, safe movements, and focuses on maintaining flexibility, balance, and joint health. This sport is effective in helping to maintain knee health and reduce the risk of osteoporosis and bone demineralization. Meanwhile, line dance, presents the rhythm of music and group dance that trains coordination and memory.

Susanto as an instructor explained, the combination of the two types of physical activity provides excellent complementary benefits for the health of the body and mind.

"Andrie Wongso gymnastics focuses more on improving overall body fitness, maintaining joint flexibility, strengthening muscles, improving balance, and reducing the risk of injury, especially in the elderly," said Susanto.

He added, line dance complements this aspect by actively training the brain function. "Meanwhile, line dance provides additional benefits in the form of increased body coordination, agility, concentration, memory, and trains the brain function because participants must remember different series of movements," he explained.

Both types of sports have also proven effective in supporting weight loss programs if done regularly. In a duration of 30 to 60 minutes, AW Gymnastics is able to burn around 150 - 300 calories, while line dance can burn up to 200 - 400 calories depending on the intensity level of the movement.

To get optimal results, it is recommended that the exercise be done three to five times a week with a duration of 30 - 60 minutes per session. The exercise phase begins with warming up for 5 -10 minutes, core exercise 20 - 40 minutes, and ends with cooling for 5 - 10 minutes. For beginners and the elderly, the exercise is enough to start from a duration of 20 - 30 minutes gradually.

In addition to the impact on physical fitness, interactions in gymnastics groups provide added value for mental health and social life of the community.

"When someone regularly follows gymnastics together, they have the opportunity to meet new people, encourage each other, share life experiences, and even build friendships. This is very important especially for the elderly, because good social interaction can help reduce loneliness and reduce the risk of stress and depression," said Susanto.

National motivator and creator of AW Gymnastics, Andrie Wongso, also reminded the importance of consistency in building healthy living habits without having to force yourself.

"The philosophy of gymnastics is simple, namely moving correctly, done gradually, and enjoyed with a happy heart. There is no need to force yourself, because health is built from habits that are done consistently," said Andrie.

In addition to physical activities, the CSR event entitled Holywings Peduli handed over 50 units of outdoor trash cans with a capacity of 100 liters to local residents.

Holywings Group President Commissioner, Andrew Susanto, emphasized the company's commitment to promoting awareness of clean and healthy living in the community.

"We believe that maintaining health does not always have to start with big things. Simple physical activities that are done regularly can have a big impact on quality of life," said Andrew.

He added, a clean environment is an important foundation in implementing a healthy lifestyle. "Maintaining health is not only done through exercise, but also starts from a clean environment. We hope that this garbage can help can be used well so that the community is more concerned about the cleanliness of the surrounding environment," he concluded.
