The Oakwood Apartment PIK Is Scolded By The Provincial Government Of DKI For Allowing Quarantine Foreigners To Wander

JAKARTA - The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf) gave a letter of warning to entrepreneurs of Oakwood PIK Apartments, Penjaringan, North Jakarta.

Head of DKI Disparekraf Gumilar Ekalaya said the written warning to Oakwood was carried out because the accommodation place freed repatriated foreigners from wandering by while being quarantined.

"The business that you manage does not apply standard operational procedures for health protocols, in which there are still foreigners passing through the area and using hotel facilities", said Gumilar in the letter of warning, quoted on Friday, April 30.

Gumilar said, Oakwood did not carry out the obligations such as in the Governor Regulation Number 3 of 2021 concerning the prevention of COVID-19, to the Decree of the Parekraf Office Number 313 of 2021 regarding micro-scale community activity restrictions (PPKM) in the tourism business sector.

"With this, a written warning will be given to your business. Furthermore, if there are repeated violations of public health protection, a temporary suspension of activities will be carried out for 3 days by placing a seal", said Gumilar.

This problem started when two foreigners, Elwna and Damian, uploaded a photo of themselves swimming in the Oakwood Apartment. The photo was uploaded on April 16, 2020.

In the caption of an Instagram post, Elena said that foreign travelers who were carrying out quarantine in Indonesia were allowed to leave the room at the Oakwood Apartment.

However, when this upload being discussed, the Instagram account @elena_iluina had disappeared.

Oakwood management is open to voice. Oakwood General Manager Christian Jacob confirmed that Elena was a quarantine guest at the Oakwood Apartment hotel. However, he claimed that Elena had gone through a 5-day isolation period.

Elena has also conducted another PCR test from a laboratory appointed by the DKI Health Office. Then, Elena extended her stay at Oakwood Apartemen PIK Jakarta after passing the repatriation period.

"Oakwood Apartemen PIK Jakarta has carried out procedures in accordance with established health protocols. One of them is that guests are not allowed to leave the hotel room before the repatriation period is over", he wrote.
