JAKARTA - The Yogyakarta City Government has received an additional 38.000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to complete the vaccination program.

"Previously, there were still 24.000 doses of remaining stock and an additional 38.000 doses", said Head of Yogyakarta City Health Office Emma Rahmi Aryani in Yogyakarta, Thursday.

According to Emma, the Yogyakarta City Health Office is trying to move quickly in implementing the COVID-19 vaccination program.

Currently, there are more than 97.000 people who have received the first injection of the vaccine and more than 70.000 people who have completed the COVID-19 vaccination in Yogyakarta.

Emma explained that health service facilities, including hospitals, health centers, and clinics in Yogyakarta City every day on average provide vaccination services to more than 1.300 people.

"We have to move fast. So that the dose we have will decrease. When the stock remains about 30 percent of the second dose requirement, then we will immediately submit the need to the center for additional vaccines", she said.

Previously, Yogyakarta Mayor Haryadi Suyuti as the Chairperson of the Yogyakarta COVID-19 Handling Task Force asked the Health Office to immediately distribute vaccine stocks.

"Continue to be distributed to health facilities so that the vaccination program can run quickly. No hoarding of vaccine stocks is allowed. The faster the vaccination program is going, the better", he said.

Haryadi added, the COVID-19 vaccination program in Yogyakarta City is not based on individuals but based on family ID cards.

"There could be people from Sleman or Bantul who are domiciled in Yogyakarta as well as receiving vaccines. Vaccination is intended for all", he said.

He hoped that there would be cooperation with other agencies and institutions or the private sector to accelerate the implementation of vaccinations, including by holding mass vaccination services.
