JAKARTA - PT Pertamina (Persero) managed to reduce carbon emissions by 146,183 metric tons of CO2 from the target of 105,574 metric tons of CO2.

Pertamina's Vice President of Corporate Communication Fadjar Djoko Santoso said this year, Pertamina is targeting a decarbonization of 1.6 million metric tons of CO2 to increase compared to the 2024 target of 1.09 million metric tons of CO2.

"Decarbonization is Pertamina's commitment to support the Government's target of reducing carbon emissions and Net Zero Emission (NZE) by 2060," said Fadjar, Friday, March 7.

Decarbonization, said Fadjar, is Pertamina's strategy to maintain existing business operations for national energy security that is carried out environmentally friendly.

"Environmental business operational practices have become the world's standard in the oil and gas business and Pertamina has received global recognition as an international standard company," he explained.

According to Fadjar, Pertamina's success in decarbonization is supported by the performance of all subholdings that have succeeded in reducing emissions beyond the target.

Upstream subholding managed to reduce emissions by 111,000 metricron CO2, Subholding Refining & Petrochemical by 23,000 metric tons of CO2, Subholding Commercial & Trading by 1,754 metric tons of CO2, Subholding Gas by 2,459 metric tons of CO2, Subholding Power & New Renewable Energy 2,255 metric tons of CO2 and Subholding Integrated Marine Logistics by 5,115 metric tons of CO2.

Pertamina targets that by the end of 2025, the achievement of decarbonization can again exceed the target like the previous year. Pertamina continues to innovate across business lines to achieve positive performance in decarbonization," concluded Fadjar.
