Government Gives Toll Rates And Airplane Ticket Discounts, DPR: We Appreciate

JAKARTA - The existence of discounted toll rates and plane tickets to ease the burden on travelers this year from the government is appreciated by Deputy Chairman of Commission V DPR Andi Iwan Darmawan Aras.

"The policy of discounting toll rates and discounting plane tickets is the government's commitment to reduce the burden on the community. Of course we should give appreciation," said Iwan Darmawan, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, November 22.

According to Iwan, the toll rates and plane tickets are very helpful for travelers considering that many people from the lower middle to lower economies have returned to their hometowns during this year's Eid al-Fitr momentum.

However, Iwan emphasized that the provision of discounts must also coincide with improving the quality of toll roads and aircraft transportation modes.

These facilities must be suitable for use to ensure the comfort and safety of travelers.

Iwan also gave an example of one of the facilities that must be suitable for use, namely a resting place at several toll road points.

"Rest areas must be appropriate, including clean toilets, refueling stations to health services. Public comfort and security are the main things that need to be considered during the Eid homecoming period," he said.

"It is also necessary to add pocketes to the travelers' resting place, and arrange the system for entry and exit of vehicles in rest-rest areas, especially rest areas that are often crowded so that there is no buildup," added Iwan.

Deputy Minister for Political and Security Coordinator (Wamenko Polkam) Lodewijk F Paulus ensured that airplane tickets and toll fees would be given discounts for travelers during the 2025 Eid period.

The implementation of the discount was carried out in order to reduce the costs that must be incurred by the community during homecoming.

"Tiket pesawat kalau waktu Nataru itu (diskon) 10 persen, kita harapkan Lebaran tahun ini mungkin lebih dari 10 persen (diskon) tentunya setelah dikoordinasikan," kata Lodewijk usai menggelar rapat koordinasi antar kementerian dan lembaga soal persiapan Lebaran di kantor Menko Polkam, Jakarta Pusat, Senin (24/2)

"For toll roads, it gets a discount of 20 percent that is quite large, so it is hoped that all of them will provide smooth running in the homecoming process," said Lodewijk.

"There is all the total that we function with 89 toll roads," he said.

All of these toll roads, said Lodewijk, have been checked in terms of security and asphalt quality by officers to ensure the safety and comfort of travelers.

With these concessions and various facilities, Lodewijk hopes that the community can go home safely, comfortably and cheaply during the Eid 2025 period.
