Read Novel During Middle School, Ariel Tatum Nangis Gets An Offer For Mouly Surya's Film

JAKARTA - Ariel Tatum said he was happy and honored to be one of the cast in the film War Kota. This latest film Mouly Surya is an adaptation of a novel by Mochtar Lubis entitled Jalan Takda Ujung.

Ariel Tatum plays Fatimah, the wife of Isa (played by Chicco Jerikho) who takes care of her child and husband during times of war.

In my opinion, fatimah is not only a woman on the battlefield but a wife who deserves to be loved. The figure of the mother in Fatimah is very instinct but many layers are complex and extraordinary," said Ariel Tatum about his character at a press conference in Central Jakarta on Monday, March 24.

Remembering the process, Ariel cried when he received an offer to play the character Fatimah. In addition to fond of Mouly Surya's work, he also read this book when he was still in junior high school.

"Honestly, when I was offered a join in the film War Kota, the first reaction was crying because I'm a Mouly for so long fan. It's an honor to bring Fatimah's character to life," he explained.

"The first time I read his book at junior high school, when I was offered his role, I read it again and I realized that Fatimah's character could be explored. Basically, I think the character is still very relevant to be witnessed in the modern era," said Ariel Tatum.

Mouly Surya revealed that Fatimah's relationship with Isa and Hazil (played by Jerome Kurnia) became the main soul of his latest film set in the struggle for independence.
