Police Arrest Dozens Of Teenagers In Motorcycle Convoys Carrying Flags And Burning Firecrackers

JAKARTA - The action of a motorcycle convoy by a group of teenagers is increasingly rife in Central Jakarta towards the end of Ramadan. They carried out a convoy carrying group flags and started firecrackers. While crossing Jalan Dr. Wahidin Raya, Sawah Besar District, Central Jakarta, as many as 21 teenagers were arrested by the Central Jakarta Metro Police Precision Pioneer Patrol Team.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Susatyo Purnomo Condro, stated that the arrests were made because teenagers were caught setting off firecrackers on the streets, which disrupted public order. In addition to securing teenagers, the police also confiscated various evidences, namely 8 group flags, 11 firecrackers, and 20 motorbikes used in the convoy.

"The patrol team immediately moved quickly and managed to secure the perpetrators and evidence," said Kombes Susatyo when confirmed, Monday, March 24.

Most of the teenagers who were arrested were minors and came from various areas in North Jakarta. They were taken to the Sawah Besar Police for further investigation.

The police urge parents to supervise their children more, especially when outside the home, to prevent involvement in unlawful acts.

"Parents supervision is very important to prevent the involvement of children in actions that can harm themselves and others," he said.
