Prabowo Wants To Build 38 Special Economic Zones, Being In Each Province

BATANG - President Prabowo Subianto plans to build Special Economic Zones (SEZs) in each province. Later, Indonesia will have 38 SEZs to encourage increased investment and create jobs.

This was conveyed by President Prabowo after inaugurating the SEZ of Industropolis Batang, Central Java, Thursday, March 20.

"We are optimistic and this is one of the dozens of SEZ plans that we will build later, maybe ideally one SEZ in each province. So in the end we have to have 38 SEZs that we want to go that way," Prabowo said in an interview. joint media, through a voice recording received in Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, March 20.

The President appreciated the Industropolis Batang SEZ which he considered to have very good development planning.

In the SEZ, the President highlighted that many large companies have been involved, namely seven of which are already operating, then seven more companies are in the construction stage and 13 other companies are planning industrial development in the SEZ.

The President said that the government's future plan to create jobs through investment, as well as increase the value of commodity raw materials through downstreaming is increasingly promising.

"The investments that we will carry out starting this year are downstream so that the added value of all of our raw materials can be enjoyed by all Indonesian people, as well as the jobs we calculate, in the next 5 years it will reach 8 million jobs," said Prabowo.

The inauguration of the Industropolis Batang SEZ is a transformation of the Batang Integrated Industrial Zone (KITB) which aims to encourage increased investment in Central Java.

Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media of the Presidential Secretariat Yusuf Permana previously said that the government is targeting the investment value in the Industropolis Batang SEZ in the next five years of IDR 75.8 trillion, while the target for the total workforce is 58,145 people.

Business activities carried out at the Industropolis SEZ include manufacturing, logistics, and distribution.
