Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said plans for talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and United States President Donald Trump this Tuesday were approved in just a few days.

"(It only takes) a few days," Peskov said when asked about the time it took to set the contacts of the two leaders, reported TASS March 18.

Peskov further said the preparation time, in general, "depending on the decisions of the heads of state."

"They may decide to hold talks quickly, sometimes it takes days, sometimes weeks. Of course it varies," a Kremlin spokesman explained.

Peskov promised the Kremlin would release a press service report following talks between Putin and Trump.

"We will even hold a briefing, if necessary," he said.

Peskov previously confirmed the two leaders will hold phone talks this Tuesday.

It came after President Trump previously said he planned to speak with President Putin on Tuesday and discuss how to end the war in Ukraine after what he said was positive talks between Steve Witkoff, the envoy in particular, and President Putin in Moscow last week.

When asked about the call plan, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: "Yes, that's how it is. Such conversations are planned for Tuesday."

President Trump said a lot of work had been done over the weekend and he thought Washington had a very good opportunity to end Ukraine's war.
