North Sumatra - Police investigated the cause of the fire of a truck loaded with 64 motorbikes on Jalan Lintas Sumatra, Torgamba District on Sunday, March 2 at around 00.30 WIB

"The cause of the fire of one truck is still being investigated," said Head of the Public Relations Section of the South Labuhanbatu Police (Labusel Police) AKP Sujono in Pinang City, Monday, March 3, as reported by Antara.

Sujono said that there were no deaths as a result of the fire that scorched a truck and 64 motorcycles.

He added that material losses in the fire incident were estimated at IDR 2 billion.

"It is suspected that the truck caught fire due to a short circuit, it's just that the exact cause is still being investigated by personnel," said Sujono.

He said the incident started when the motorcyclist on Jalan Lintas Sumatra, Torgamba District saw a fire behind the top of the motorcycle-carrying truck.

Then, the residents together with the Torgamba Police personnel who were on patrol informed the truck driver to stop at a location far from residential areas.

"The fire then quickly burned around the truck, so as many as 64 motorbikes caught fire," he said.

He said the flames could be extinguished with the help of a fire engine from the Torgamba sub-district office about an hour later.

"All the motorbikes are planned to be taken to Jalan Pulau Karimun Mabar Medan," he said.
