JAKARTA - Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) Laksana Tri Handoko answered questions currently circulating in the community regarding the auction of the Baruna Jaya ship which was officially auctioned on the auction.go.id site belonging to the Ministry of Finance.
Handoko said the asset auction had been planned for a long time, because it was deemed unfit for surgery.
"This has been planned for a long time since before BRIN (was formed), because it is no longer feasible for surgery," he said when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta, Friday, January 7.
Handoko also confirmed the status of the ship which is currently undergoing the auction process. "If you are already on the site, it is already in process," he said briefly.
However, Handoko said that his party is currently preparing a replacement for the ship. BRIN, he said, is currently building two new research ships, and the number is planned to reach 12 ships as a whole.
"BRIN is currently building two research ships. Next there will be another up to 12 ships," said Laksana Tri Handoko.
It is known, based on ANTARA's monitoring at the auction.go.id site, the ship was auctioned with the title "BRIN: 1 Package of fire trucks consisting of 2 Survey Boat Units in North Jakarta City". The ship has a limit value of IDR 7,949,026,000,-.
Based on the photos uploaded on the site, the two ships in question are KM Baruna Jaya II and KM Baruna Jaya IV.
Previously, it went viral on social media X regarding the tweet of the account of the Strategic Defense Study Institute (Keris) @LembagaKERIS which uploaded information about the ship belonging to BRIN being auctioned.
