Attack The Anti-Coup Protesters' Resistance Base, Six Troops Of Mynammar Military Regime Killed

JAKARTA - The Myanmar military regime has tried to penetrate the main defense base of military anti-coup protesters in the city of Myingan, Mandalay.

The Lanmadaw defense base in the city's sixth ward is a major defensive area where civilians have used homemade weapons, such as hunting rifles, to withstand attacks by regime forces.

About 200 members of the armed forces attacked the fort from Sunday afternoon until 10 pm, according to local residents. The Myanmar military is trying to destroy the barricades built by civilians.

"Myingan is now like a war zone. Military forces are shooting at everyone they see," said local residents as reported by Myanmar Now, Tuesday, April 20.

Meanwhile, according to The Irrawaddy, six members of the Myanmar military regime's security forces were killed and 13 others injured during the attack on the protesters' base.

"They fired wildly. A large number of troops came along with bulldozers to our barricades in the No. 6 ward at around 7 pm on Sunday. We have built several rows of barricades with sandbags," said a local resident.

“Security forces moved barricades along the main road. After they had opened fire for a long time, the youths launched a guerrilla attack. Sixteen regime troops were attacked. Four soldiers were immediately killed and 12 were injured,” said a local resident.

The confrontation follows an earlier incident in Myingyan on Sunday afternoon when three civilians were injured after Myanmar military regime security forces opened fire on anti-regime protesters. A man is in critical condition after being shot in the head as he closes the shop where he works.

Two members of the security forces were killed and one wounded in the attack, local residents said. Regime reinforcements from Nyaung-U, Meiktila, and Mandalay then came to Myingyan on Sunday afternoon and attacked the barricades in ward No. 6 using a machine gun. No civilians were injured in Sunday night's gunfight, but six local residents were arrested.

On Monday, a resident told regime troops continued firing at ward No. 6 o'clock in the morning on Monday. Until the afternoon, no protesters came out.
