Take Note! Health Minister Budi Says People Who Are Not BPJS Health Participants Can Still Get PKG

JAKARTA - Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin said that the public can enjoy the Free Health Check (PKG) service even though they are not Health Social Security Administrator (BPJS) participants.

This is because the service is the government's effort to increase access to health services for everyone.

Although BPJS Kesehatan membership is not required to obtain free health check services, said the Minister of Health, the government still encourages the public to register as Health BPJS participants.

He said that membership is important if further medical action is needed based on the results of the free health check.

"The public is advised to take advantage of this free health check service as an initial step to maintain health," said the Minister of Health in a statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, January 23.

The Minister of Health also emphasized the importance of socialization so that this program can reach a wider community.

In the same statement, the Director General of Primary and Community Health at the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) Maria Endang Sumiwi said that active Health BPJS will facilitate the referral process and further handling if health problems are found.

Endang said that PKG only covers initial screening services. However, if the examination results indicate certain medical conditions, such as impaired kidney function or other chronic diseases, the patient may need to be referred to a hospital for further treatment.

In a situation like this, he said, active Health BPJS membership can help reduce the burden of treatment costs.

To help the public check the status of Health BPJS membership, he said, the government has prepared a reminder feature through the Satu Sehat Mobile application. This reminder will be sent 30 days before the user's birthday, which is also the ideal time to ensure the activity of Health BPJS.

"If their Health BPJS is not yet active, the public can immediately activate it. Considering that the BPJS activation process takes up to 14 days, 30 days' prior notification is very helpful," he continued.

He hopes that this step can ensure that people who need advanced health services can be served without administrative or financial barriers. He also appealed to the public to immediately download the Satu Sehat Mobile application to utilize the reminder feature.
