Former Chairperson Of The Surabaya District Court Meets Lawyer Ronald Tannur In The Office Of Work, MA: Prohibited By The Criminal Procedure Codes For Ethics

JAKARTA - The former chairman of the Surabaya District Court, Rudi Suparmono, is said to have met directly with the suspect Lisa Rachmat. Regarding the meeting, Mahkamagung (MA) stated that it was a form of violation as a judge.

The spokesman for the Supreme Court, Yanto, said that based on the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), a judge was prohibited from meeting with litigants.

"So if the SOP we also refer to positive laws. In our Criminal Procedure Code, it is forbidden to meet with litigants, that is clear. So both SOPs and laws prohibit it," Yanto told reporters, Wednesday, January 15.

He emphasized that if there was a meeting between Rudi Suparmono and Lisa Racmat, then it would be categorized as a violation of the code of ethics. Of course, there will be sanctions for violators.

"If a meeting occurs, the point is that it is prohibited, the code of ethics is not allowed. It is prohibited, judges are prohibited from meeting the parties, both in court and outside the trial. The SOP is the same. That is in both the Criminal Procedure Code and in the Authority of Justice like that," said Yanto.

Meanwhile, the meeting between the two took place in the office of the Head of the Surabaya District Court. At the meeting, Lisa Rachmat asked to ensure that the panel of judges who will handle his client's case, Ronald Tannur.

The Supreme Court will also recommend the temporary dismissal of Rudi Suparmono as a judge following the stipulation of the former chairman of the Surabaya District Court as a suspect in the alleged bribery and gratification case of Gregorius Ronald Tannur's acquittal.

The recommendation letter for the dismissal of Rudi Suparmono will later be sent to President Prabowo Subianto.

"Furthermore, we will propose the temporary dismissal of Brother R as a judge to the President," said Yanto.
