Ministry Of Home Affairs Discusses Regional Head Inauguration Schedule After DPR Recess

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Home Affairs is waiting for the recess period for members of the DPR to be completed, in order to discuss together the timing of the inauguration of the elected regional head simultaneously, after the completion of the General Election Result Dispute (PHPU) at the Constitutional Court (MK).

"When the recess is complete, we will hold a discussion meeting to agree on what the options will be, at this time the position is like that," said Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya as reported by ANTARA, Friday, January 10.

Bima said the inauguration of regional heads had been stated in Presidential Regulation Number 80 of 2024 concerning Procedures for Inauguration of Regional Heads.

However, there was also a decision by the Constitutional Court which asked that all inaugurations be held simultaneously, except for those who held the re-election.

"This means that if you follow that, then the inauguration cannot be carried out in February, because you have to wait for the stages of the Constitutional Court trial which will be completed on March 13," he said.

Therefore, Bima said the Ministry of Home Affairs would consult and coordinate with the General Elections Commission (KPU), with the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu), the Election Organizers Honorary Council (DKPP), and especially also with the DPR after waiting for a recess.

Based on Presidential Regulation Number 80 of 2024 concerning Procedures for Inauguration of Regional Heads, the inauguration of the elected candidate pair for governor and deputy governor in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada is scheduled for February 7, 2025.

Meanwhile, the inauguration of the elected regent and deputy regent candidates and the elected mayor and deputy mayorial candidate pairs in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada is scheduled for February 10, 2025.
