DIY Local Government Repairs Sentolo-Nanggulan Kulon Progo Access Road Starting February

YOGYAKARTA - The Yogyakarta Special Region Government (Pemda DIY) will repair the Sentolo-Nanggulan access road in Wijimulyo Village, Kulon Progo Regency, which was cut off due to landslides, starting in early February 2025.

Head of the DIY Public Works, Housing and Energy Agency (PUP ESDM) Anna Rina Herranti said the provincial-owned road repair project was still in the procurement stage.

"Later the contract (signatured) at the end of January. After that, the construction process will begin in early February," Anna said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, January 10.

According to Anna, the road repair project is estimated to take about four to five months. Thus, the road can only be reused in mid-2025.

After the winner of the project procurement auction emerged, he estimated that the road repair work would take about four to five months.

Thus, the roads that are now completely closed can only be reused in mid-2025. "(Total closed) until the project is completed," he said.

Anna also revealed that the budget allocated for road repairs reached Rp2 billion.

Previously, the Sentolo-Nanggulan road access in Wijimulyo Village, Nanggulan District, Kulon Progo Regency, collapsed for the second time on Sunday (5/1), after raining all day.

The first landslide that occurred on December 17, 2024, has eroded 50 percent of the road and now there are 1 meter left after the subsequent landslide.

Head of the Emergency and Logistics Section, Kulon Progo Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Budi Prastawa said that the road had a water source which reduced the soil density condition.

Budi said the study process was being carried out by the DIY ESDM PUP Office regarding the materials on the road. "Later, the results of the study can be the basis for the road repair process," he also said.
