Not An Ordinary Horror, Devil's Bridal Film Director: Horror Can Happen Without A Shaman

JAKARTA - Azhar Kinoi Lubis is back with his latest horror film, the Devils' Bridal. Together with MVP, he marked a collaboration adapted from the horror story of a woman named Echa through the RJL 5 broadcast.

"From the start, the story was interesting. Tragic, sad, scary everything is here and I think we can visualize it because of the existing story, so how do we make our own interpretations," said Amrit Punjabi as the producer of the film at a press conference on Friday, January 10.

Kinoi continued, the Devils Bridal film is a horror film that is different from usual. Because this film does not have a shaman or an old mountain that is usually found in similar genre films.

'Administrators of Satan are far from horror in general. There is no klenic because we want to make horror without a shaman or an old mountain. Horror can happen anywhere when our faith is not strong," said Kinoi.

"The ustad character here is described as an intermediary but the human beings themselves have to save themselves," he said again.

Husein M. Atmodjo or Monji said that although this film is adapted from a full story, they must sort out which parts are interesting to translate into the medium of the film.

"We have one problem, how to tell it well because there are many timeframes from high school until we find one conclusion. Finally we made it out of a dream, what if meeting in the real world was a nightmare," said Monji.

The Devils' bride tells the story of Echa (Erika Carlina) and Ariel (Emir Mahira), a young couple who marry for three years but continue to fight. One day, their household changes after Echa is pregnant with their first child, but Ariel and Echa start to get terrorized.

The Devils' Bridal Film will premiere in Indonesian cinemas starting January 16, 2025.
