Former KPK Investigators Reveal Firli Bahuri Trying To Prevent The Handling Of Harun Masiku's Case

JAKARTA - Ronal Paul Signal, who is a former investigator of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), revealed that there was an attempt by former KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri to obstruct the handling of the bribery case for handling the interim replacement (PAW) of members of the DPR RI who later ensnared the Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto.

This was conveyed by Ronal after undergoing examination as a witness. Initially, he explained that he had served as an investigator who handled the PAW bribery case before being fired because he did not pass the national insight test (TWK) to transfer employee status.

"I handled from January 9 to (affected by TWK, ed). I was expelled until September 30, 2021. So it was almost two years," Ronal told reporters at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, January 8.

Ronal then mentioned that there were a number of obstacles in handling the Harun case. He also conveyed this to investigators when examined.

"Earlier in the BAP, I said that it was more than that. Yes, one of them is clear, yes, from Firli Bahuri himself," he said.

One form of obstruction to the investigation carried out by Firli, continued Ronal, asked for a search at the PDIP DPP office, Menteng not to be carried out. In fact, investigators need to do so to find evidence of Hasto's involvement.

"It's always called not just yet, it's hot, and the like. That's what I also said that we should stop the tempo first so that it's a little cool first, yes," said Ronal.

"And I conveyed that too. Actually, it can be, yes, like that hindered. That's the only thing that happened during the previous government leadership," he continued.

In addition, Ronal also said that the head of the anti-corruption commission during the Firli Bahuri era did not dare to issue a search letter for the PDIP DPP office. So, the former investigator asked the KPK to summon Firli for questioning.

"Earlier I said that those who were called here should not be myself. However, Firli Bahuri himself should have also been here," he said.

"Only usually, after the examination, investigators will gather again, will they discuss whether it is necessary to call Firli Bahuri or Hasto," explained Ronal.

Previously reported, the KPK developed an interim replacement bribery (PAW) case that ensnared former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan and his fugitive, Harun Masiku. Two people were later named as suspects, namely PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah who are PDIP cadres as well as lawyers.

It didn't stop there, Hasto was also a suspect in the obstruction of the investigation. He is suspected of trying to obstruct the legal process, one of which is by asking Harun to damage his cellphone and run away after the hand arrest operation (OTT) was carried out.
