Ombudsman: It's Impossible For Law Enforcement Officials Not To Know There Is A Tangerang Sea Restriction

TANGERANG The 30-kilometer-long fence that stretches across Putrih Island, Kronjo, the sea of Tangerang Regency is still a question. A number of local fishermen who saw the sea fence admitted that they felt aggrieved by the stretched fence.

This hashtag is considered to hamper fishermen's activities in fishing. With this fence, the source of income of the fishermen is disrupted. In addition, ponds and river flows that are buried without permits increase the burden and disrupt water flow as well as the surrounding ecosystem.

Member of the Indonesian Ombudsman, Yeka Fatika Hendra, confirmed that there is a mysterious fence in the sea of Tangerang Regency. The existence of sea fencing will have a major impact on coastal community access.

According to Yeka, the coated bamboo fence is seen limiting the movement of fishing boats, so that it can exacerbate the situation.

"This is definitely not the PSN area. How come there is a bamboo fence installed in the sea up to 1 kilometer from the sea? This is clearly detrimental to fishermen. No less than 8 billion fishermen have lost because of this bamboo fence," Yeka said, Thursday, January 8.

He also doubts that the Law Rejecting Apparatus (APH) is not aware of the existence of a fence in the sea in the Kronjo area, Tangerang Regency.

"I doubt that APH doesn't know this. This layered bamboo fence must be lifted immediately, for the sake of serving fishermen," he said.

He also highlighted the potential environmental impact of pond and river hoarding activities that were carried out without permission. He considered that these actions not only harm the community but also threaten the sustainability of the local ecosystem.

"We will ensure that there are appropriate handlings so that this problem does not spread further," he explained.
