Wahyu Setiawan Claims There Was No Direct Discussion On The PAW Bribery With Hasto

JAKARTA - Former Commissioner of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Wahyu Setiawan claims that he has never discussed bribery for interim replacement (PAW) members of the DPR with the Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto. He never made direct communication.

This was conveyed by Wahyu after undergoing examination as a witness to the alleged PAW bribery and the obstruction of the investigation that ensnared Hasto today. He underwent an examination for six hours or from 12.30 WIB to 18.30 WIB.

"Nothing, nothing (direct communication related to the bribery process, ed)," Wahyu told reporters at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.

Even so, Wahyu admitted that he knew Hasto. Likewise with the former member of the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu), Agustiani Tio Fridelina who was both involved in this bribery case.

"I do know Pak Hasto, I also know Mrs. Agustiani," he said.

"Knowing him well and I conveyed that I know him well, I can't cover up his facts. He's my senior, I know him well," he continued.

Furthermore, Wahyu also ensured that there had never been any pressure from PDIP on the KPU even though in 2014-2019 or 2019-204 it became the ruling party. "I conveyed that the problem that had occurred to me from the start was a personal matter, has nothing to do with the institution," said the former commissioner.

Previously reported, the KPK has named PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah as PDIP cadres and lawyers as suspects in alleged bribery related to interim shifts (PAW) for members of the DPR RI.

They are suspected of participating in bribing former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan to smooth Harun Masiku's move to become a member of the council.

In addition, Hasto is also a suspect in the obstruction of the investigation. He is suspected of carrying out a number of ways to make the case unfinished, one of which asked Harun to destroy his cellphone and run away after the hand arrest operation (OTT) was held.

In this case, Hasto and Donny have not been detained but have been prevented from leaving the country for six months. The same prohibition also applies to the former Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) of the era of President Joko Widodo, Yasonna H Laoly.
