Depending On Fiber Floating In The Ocean, Missing Ship Fishermen In The Riau Islands Ring Are Found Selamat

Fishermen who lost contact in the waters of Lingga Lingga Regency, Riau Islands (Kepri), were found safe.

The victim, on behalf of Rahimin (45) was found floating in the sea using the fiber he used as a floating aid on Thursday, January 2 at around 09.00 WIB.

"The location where the victim was found was about four Nautical Mile (NM) from Pekajang Village, Lingga," said Head of the Tanjungpinang City Search and Rescue Office (SAR), Fazzli, in a statement, confiscated by Antara.

After being found, the victim was immediately evacuated to his residence in Pekajang Village for treatment and recovery.

Fazzli explained that the chronology of the incident began when the Command Center or Command Center received a report from BPBD Lingga that there had been a loss of contact with a fishing boat with one passenger on behalf of Rahimin on Wednesday, January 1 at around 12.00 WIB.

The victim is known to have left Belinyu, Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Province using a pompong to Pekajang Lingga Village on December 31, 2024 at around 04.00 WIB. However, until January 1, 2025, the victim had not arrived at the destination.

"The victim's ship allegedly sank due to being hit by extreme weather, so the victim finally survived and was adrift in the sea with the help of the rest of the fiber ship," he said.

He said the search for victims of Rahimin involved joint elements from the Lingga SAR Alert Unit, Polair Dabo, BPBD, Bhabinsa, Bhabinkamtibmas, village officials, and local fishing communities.

Several main tools such as RIB 05 Lingga, Speedboat Polair Dabo, as well as two wooden boats belonging to fishermen were deployed to search for victims.

"With the discovery of the victim safe, the SAR operation was declared complete and proposed to be closed. All elements were returned to their respective bases with thanks," said Fazzli.
