Jokowi Nominated For Corrupted Figures In The World, Coordinating Minister For Political, Legal And Security Affairs: We Must Protect The President's Marwah

Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) Budi Gunawan said he was reluctant to polemic about the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) being nominated for the Organizationized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) version.

However, according to him, as the President, Jokowi is the best citizen. So, his dignity must be maintained as a leader.

"Yes, after all, the president is the best citizen in every country. We must respect his legacy and we must really protect the president's dignity," said Budi Gunawan to reporters, Thursday, January 2.

The public is also asked not to polemic this matter. Maintaining harmony and unity is said to be the most important thing for now.

"Don't take polemics there, the important thing is that we maintain the harmony of our unity. And keep the dignity of our former President. It must be the best President," said Budi Gunawan.

Jokowi was nominated as one of the most corrupt world figures in 2024 according to the OCCRP version.

Quoted from publications published on the official OCCRP website, apart from Jokowi, several names mentioned include Kenyan President William Ruto, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasin, and Indian businessman Gautam Adani.

Jokowi is known to have made a statement regarding this matter. Instead, he questioned the corrupt context in question.

"Corrupted? What corruption? What corruption?" he said.

Jokowi asked the party claiming the statement to prove it.

"Yes, it is proven, what," he said.

According to Jokowi, currently there is a lot of slander that comes to him.

"Now there are so many slanders, there are so many evil framings, there are so many accusations without any evidence. That's what's happening now, right?" Jokowi said.
