Traffic Corps Prepares A 24-Hour Blocking Post To Prevent Southern Route Homecoming Flow

JAKARTA - The head of the Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) of the National Police, Inspector General Istiono, said that his staff had prepared an optimal isolation post with a 24-hour operation, especially in the southern route where most travelers would pass.

"It is important that we check the Southern Route because it is one of the main routes because the most destinations for this homecoming are the Banyumas route," Istiono said as quoted by Antara, Thursday, April 14.

In order to ensure the readiness of its members to anticipate community mobilization during the period of homecoming ban from 6-17 May, Istiono conducted a survey of the isolation posts in the southern route.

Istiono and other interested parties followed the route that established blocking posts starting from the Cilacap Police, Banjar Police, Ciamis Police, to the Cileunyi Police, Thursday, April 15.

"Today we checked, yes, monitoring of the southern route and other south-south routes. This is an important route from Tasikmalaya, Ciamis, Banjar, to Majenang. It remains only now to arrange it," said Istiono.

Istiono confirmed that the southern route was ready to block the travelers on May 6-17, including the rat route.

According to him, there are four routes in West Java that need to be watched out for, namely the northern route, the middle route, the southern route, and other southern routes.

"So, for the prohibition of the Lebaran homecoming on May 6-17, 2021, these isolation points are ready, including the rat path," he said.

Istiono emphasized that his staff were on guard for 24 hours during the implementation of the elimination of homecoming. The duty officer is divided into three shifts in one day.

"We are all out 24 hours. We share three shifts, every 8 hours. So, we are all ready 24 hours a day to guard the post," said Istiono.

According to Istiono, the implementation of these three shifts is to ensure that no community escapes from surveillance by the authorities. Reflecting on the previous year, travelers will make various efforts to escape the blocking at the prepared post.

"There are 333 points of isolation posts. We add this from last year's evaluation results, namely 146 points. This addition includes illegal route," he said.

Regarding the sanctions for reckless travelers, Istiono emphasized that the sanctions imposed on travelers were only asked to make a U-turn to their place of origin.

He emphasized that this safety operation is an operation that puts forward humanism and persuasiveness.
