Prabowo: Smuggling Of Textile Threats To National Sovereignty

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto said the practice of smuggling, one of which is textile commodities in the country, is a form of threat to Indonesia's sovereignty.

"Smuggling of textiles, for example, threatens the domestic industry and the lives of hundreds of thousands of our workers," he said while delivering a briefing at the RPJMN 2025-2029 Musrenbangnas at the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas Jakarta as reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 30.

The President also highlighted the leakage problem that occurred due to smuggling, both from outside and within the country.

"Smuggling from domestic citizens is endangering Indonesia's sovereignty," he said.

The Head of State emphasized the importance of building a clean government in order to maintain national sovereignty and protect people's lives.

To overcome this, the President stressed the need for firm action against smugglers.

He instructed government officials to be given special authority to stop the threat.

President Prabowo also considered extreme measures such as sinking smuggler ships, while asking for legal experts' views regarding their implementation.

Prabowo asked government officials to work together to stop leaks and ensure that the nation's sovereignty is maintained, in order to protect the Indonesian people.

"Indonesia must have a clean government, Indonesia must have a clean government," he said.
