Hamas Releasing Power in Gaza Strip, BoP Will Follow Up Immediately

JAKARTA - The Board of Peace (BoP) stated that it was ready to follow up on the release of government authority in the Gaza Strip by the Palestinian resistance organization, Hamas.

Previously, the Gaza government under Hamas stated that it was relinquishing its authority over the territory and was preparing to hand over power to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG).

"We have taken note of today's announcement regarding the dissolution of the 'Emergency Committee' in Gaza. In the end, our assessment will be guided by actions, not promises, in order to meet the basic needs of the people of Gaza," BoP said on social media X as reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Monday, July 6.

"Decisions must be made comprehensively regarding the requirements set out in the roadmap to advance governance, security, and transition in Gaza," the agency said.

The Peace Council hopes that the discussion of the road map for Gaza, which includes implementation to ensure that NCAG can carry out its government functions, will be successful.

"The main principle remains the single authority, the single law, and the single weapon," said BoP.

"This means the consolidation of all weapons under the control of the NCAG as per the Comprehensive Peace Plan for Gaza and UN Security Council Resolution 2803," the agency said in a statement.

The Peace Council also emphasized the importance of the transfer of power to enable the NCAG to carry out its mandate independently, including in terms of decision-making related to the administration and governance entrusted to it.

Previously in November 2025, the UN Security Council adopted Resolution number 2803 to implement the peace plan in the Gaza Strip as agreed by Israel and Hamas in October 2025.

Then in early January, Steve Witkoff, a special envoy for US President Donald Trump, announced the implementation of the second phase of the Gaza peace plan.

The second phase covers the expansion of the withdrawal of Zionist forces from the Gaza Strip, the deployment of the International Stabilization Force (ISF), and the establishment of a new government structure in Gaza that includes the Trump-led Peace Council.
