Jokowi Bans Ministers From Conducting Joint Iftar And Open House Events

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has banned ministers in the Advanced Indonesian Cabinet from holding a joint iftar that is often held in the month of Ramadan. This ban is aimed at preventing the transmission of COVID-19.

"President @jokowi gave direction to the Advanced Indonesian Cabinet, all Ministries/Institutions, not to hold joint iftar events", presidential spokesman Fadjroel Rachman was quoted as saying from his Twitter account, @fadjroel, Wednesday, April 14.

Not only that, but the former Governor of DKI Jakarta also prohibited the heads of ministries and institutions from holding open houses during Eid Al-Fitr. Fadjroel said that President Jokowi wants all parties to stick to health protocols.

Previously reported, as of April 13, the Ministry of Health released additional positive cases of the latest COVID-19 as of today. A total of 77.522 specimens were examined with the result that there were 5.702 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was found in Indonesia reached 1.426.145 people and active cases of 108.599 cases", as quoted from the Ministry of Health data, Tuesday, April 13.

Recovered cases today increased by 6.349 cases, bringing the total to 1.426.145 people cured. Then, the number of positive confirmation cases that died increased by 126 people and a total of 42.782 people.

In addition, the number of specimens examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens reached 13.489.825.

"The positive result per number of specimens examined or positivity rate this week was 16.49 percent", he wrote.

For the number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspect cases, it is recorded at 58.450 people. Currently, 510 districts/cities from 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.
