South Aceh Baitulmal Secretariat Becomes A Corruption Suspect In Funds For Rehabilitation Of Poor Houses

ACEH - The South Aceh District Attorney has named two suspects in the corruption case of funds for the rehabilitation of a poor house managed by Baitulmal, South Aceh Regency for the 2022 fiscal year with a value of IDR 1.74 billion.

South Aceh Kejari Head R. Indra Senjaya said the two suspects had the initials F as a professional worker in Baitulmal, South Aceh Regency and AJ as Head of the Baitulmal Secretariat, South Aceh Regency.

"The two suspects are suspected of having committed irregularities and misuse of Baitulmal funds in South Aceh Regency for the 2022 fiscal year with a value of Rp. 1.74 billion," he said in South Aceh, Antara, Tuesday, December 10.

The two suspects are suspected of violating Article 2 and Article 3 Paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 Paragraph (1) of Law Number 31 of 1999 as amended into Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 Paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.

Indra explained that the budget for the rehabilitation of poor people's homes of Rp. 1.74 billion came from zakat, infaq, and community alms collected through Baitulmal, South Aceh Regency.

The rehabilitation of the poor house was carried out by Baitulmal, South Aceh Regency by transferring funds to the beneficiary's account. Then the funds that have been transferred are withdrawn.

Furthermore, the Destaanulmal bought building materials, which then contained allegations of manipulation of the amount of material needed and price inflation.

"Based on the findings of the BPK RI, the implementing person of the activity is suspected of using the money for the rehabilitation of uninhabitable houses that have been withdrawn from the beneficiaries for inappropriate purposes," he said.

The money for the house rehabilitation fund is intended, among others, by lending the money to a number of parties who are not entitled to receive it. As a result of his actions, the state suffered losses.

Indra Senjaya said investigators continue to investigate the corruption case by examining witnesses and collecting other evidence to reveal the possibility of other parties involved.

"Investigators continue to work thoroughly to investigate the corruption case of aid for the poor. It is possible that there are new suspects in this case," said Indra.
