BGN determines the distribution of officials in the region to monitor MBG

JAKARTA - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has determined the division of responsibility areas for the ranks of officials at levels I and II to strengthen the supervision of the implementation of MBG, especially in order to reduce the incidence of fatal poisoning that still occurs in various regions.

Head of BGN Sudaryono said that the division of responsibility areas takes into account the location of the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Program which is spread across various regions. The Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) as the program implementation unit is in the region, so that supervision is not enough to be carried out only from the central office.

"So, we divided Eselon I and Eselon II and below it, then the offices were in the regions because the MBG kitchens were not in this building, but in the regions. So, we have divided the 1, 2, and below, divided into provinces and districts," said Mas Dar in a press conference in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Saturday, August 8.

Through this scheme, he continued, each official has two roles, namely carrying out the main duties according to the structural position while carrying out the regional responsibility. Officials at the I echelon will assist a number of provinces, while officials at the II echelon will assist a number of districts under the region.

As regional managers, the BGN team has the task of strengthening coordination with local governments and various related stakeholders. The coordination includes regional heads, BGN coordinators in the region, to related services such as health services.

"So that the poisoning case, coordination with the regional head, coordination with the coordinator in the district, coordination with the coordinator in the sub-district, camat, health service, it can be the responsibility of this person in charge," he explained.

Mas Dar emphasized that the policy of dividing the region is part of an effort to transform the BGN governance so that supervision and decision-making are closer to the location of program implementation so that every official who wants to come to Jakarta must first report and obtain permission from the head of BGN.

"This is to ensure that the wheels of the organization and the goals of MBG can run optimally, and we have given a policy, whoever enters Jakarta reports to the head of BGN. So, first get permission, because the task is more in the area where he is responsible," he said.
