Landslides And Floods Surround Sukabumi, Disaster Emergency Response Status Set For A Week

SUKABUMI Sukabumi Regency Government (Pemkab) has declared a disaster emergency response status for the next seven days after a hydrometeorological disaster hit the area, resulting in one death toll and 243 affected residents.

"This emergency response status is valid for a week and can be extended after evaluation," said the Regional Secretary of Sukabumi Regency, Ade Suryaman, quoted by ANTARA on Thursday, December 5.

Furthermore, in a quick response, the Sukabumi Regency Government has established an emergency response post at the Sukabumi Regency Hall, Palabuhanratu. He said, the determination of this status aims to accelerate data collection on damage, evacuation of victims, and distribution of emergency assistance to survivors.

Ade emphasized that this step will mobilize personnel in a structured manner to ensure that the handling is right on target.

Meanwhile, the Head of BPBD Sukabumi Regency, Deden Sumpena, reported that the results of the temporary recapitulation of disaster events for landslides occurred at 13 points, floods nine points, strong winds seven points and ground movement at four points spread across 22 sub-districts.

Then for the number of affected residents as many as 103 families or 243 people, 46 families or 93 people were evacuated and then threatened with seven families or 19 people and one person died.

Furthermore, the number of damaged houses was 40 units, with details of 36 lightly damaged units, three moderately damaged and one heavily damaged and six public facilities damaged. The total temporary loss reached Rp695 million.

Deden added that this data is temporary because officers are still conducting assessments and sweeping the affected locations.

The disaster that occurred on December 3-4 was in the form of floods, landslides, ground movement, and strong winds that hit 22 sub-districts. The Sukabumi Regency Government hopes that this emergency response step can minimize the impact of losses and help restore community conditions.
