South Sulawesi Police Arrest Perpetrators Of Murder Accompanied By Rape

The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the South Sulawesi Police was finally able to uncover a rape case accompanied by the murder of a woman with the initials JS (23) who worked in the Morowali mining area, Central Sulawesi Province and arrested the perpetrators.

"The perpetrator with the initials AG was arrested during his escape in East Kalimantan. There was only one perpetrator," said South Sulawesi Police Chief Inspector General Yudhiawan as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, November 21.

The disclosure of this case began with the discovery of a woman's body in a ravine at a depth of 15 meters in Sampuraga Hamlet, Kasintuwu Village, Trans Sulawesi Street, Mangkutana District, East Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi on November 13, 2024.

On the way around 01.30 WITA in the Mangkutana area, the perpetrator saw the victim sleeping in a shirt and pulled up until his stomach was visible. The perpetrator was eager and invited the victim to have sex and even offered Rp200 thousand in cash, but the victim refused.

Because he was passionate, the perpetrator continued to think about how to have sex with the victim. Still on the way, at around 02.00 WITA, the perpetrator suddenly stopped the car in the Gunung Kayulangi area, Mangkutana, East Luwu, saying he was going to urinate.

When he stopped, the perpetrator instead opened the back door and entered the car pressing his thigh and strangled his neck while covering the victim's mouth until he was helpless and then raped him. After committing his depraved act, the perpetrator returned to the front seat.

The victim then said he would report it to the police station and get out of the car and sit on the asphalt, the road conditions were quiet at that time. The perpetrator approached and strangled him so he couldn't breathe, then died. The perpetrator then took the victim's gold earrings, and his cell phone.

"The victim threatened to report to the police, finally the perpetrator panicked and strangled the victim to death. Before disposing of the victim's body, the perpetrator took his property including the IPhone 7 cellphone, then threw his body into the bottom of a ravine and fled," said the police chief.

The perpetrator fled to the Kalimantan region. On November 19, 2024, a joint team from the East Luwu Satreskrim together with Resmob Polda assisted by Resmob Polda East Kalimantan and Jatanras Polres Samarinda arrested him in Timor Village, Badak Baru Village, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan.

"This begins with sexual violence against victims. The articles are suspected of being multi-layered, namely Article 338 of the Criminal Code or Article 365 paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code or Article 6 letter B in conjunction with Article 15 in conjunction with letter O number 12 of 2022 concerning Sexual Violence, or Article 351 paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of 15 years in prison," he asserted.
