Provide Thousands Of Tents For Lewotobi Refugees, Ministry Of Social Affairs Make Sure To Hold Rain

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) has ensured that refugee tents for survivors of the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki in East Flores Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) are resistant to rain and puddles.

"We complete these items with a ceiling, we also install pallets to avoid seepages and puddles when it rains at any time," said Acting Director of Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Masryani Mansyur in a statement, Tuesday, November 18, which was confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the Ministry of Social Affairs had set up several tents, including 25 multipurpose tents, 48 family tents, and provided 1,241 rolled tents, 1,780 mattresses and 2,424 blankets for the refugees.

The multipurpose tents established by the Ministry of Social Affairs, he continued, were located at several evacuation points, including 10 tents at the Konga refugee camps, three tents in Kobasoma, two tents in Ile Gerong, six tents in Bonkang, two tents in Lewolaga, and two tents in Eputobi.

He added that apart from evacuation tents, his party had also built 13 tents for emergency schools and 5 public kitchen tents.

"We continue to work with BNPB, Polri, TNI, and all volunteers who are currently at the location," said Masryani.

Meanwhile, for public kitchens, the Ministry of Social Affairs produces at least 13,239 food packs divided into four kitchens, namely 3,701 packs of Konga, 4,500 packs of Lewolaga, 2,699 packs of Bokang Wulumatang, and 2,600 packs of Kobasuma kitchens.

In addition to providing food, the Ministry of Social's refugee tents are also equipped with a laundry machine, so that the refugees no longer need to bother to wash their clothes.

He said the Ministry of Social Affairs also provided assistance to independent refugees spread across several locations. His party noted that 1,105 independent refugees have now entered the reach of the Ministry of Social Affairs.

"The Ministry of Social Affairs as a sub-cluster of protection and evacuation, is tasked with conducting evacuation management. So, we coordinate with all the main forces starting from BNPB, TNI, Polri, and volunteers so that refugees feel comfortable in evacuations with the various needs they have to get," he said.
