Homecoming 2021 Prohibited, DPR Proposes Government To Provide Pulse Or WiFi Assistance

JAKARTA - Vice Chairman of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Melkiades Laka Lena, assessed, last year's experience is quite a reason for the government and the public to reorganize the homecoming rules in 2021. Although there was controversy because the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) had said homecoming is not prohibited.

"I know very well, Mr. Budi Karya (Minister of Transportation) who first said homecoming can be with a variety of rules for regulation in the transportation sector. But because of the growing controversy plus the Minister of Foreign Affairs decided that homecoming this year is also prohibited," said Melki, Friday, April 9.

According to him, homecoming or not, actually is not so important. As long as, he said, the government can guarantee the public can continue to carry out their activities normally during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr by implementing health protocols.

Therefore, according to him at this time, the government should think about how residents who do not return home can still receive and survive in their respective residences.

"Let's say there is credit assistance or provided in certain areas the free Wifi network so that people who do not homecoming can communicate well with residents or families in the area. This must be thought of from now on," explained the Golkar politician.
