JAKARTA - The police have filed a request to block 47 accounts related to an online gambling case involving employees of the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi).
Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner (Kombes) Ade Ary Syam Indradi said that the dozens of accounts belonged to the suspects that had been confiscated as evidence.
"Investigators have also filed a request to block 47 accounts belonging to the suspects," Ade told reporters on Thursday, November 7.
The blocking of the suspects' accounts is suspected to be related to investigators' efforts to investigate money laundering (TPPU).
Not only that, investigators are also recording accounts used by online gambling websites. Usually, these accounts are used for capital deposits and withdrawals.
"We are currently inventorying the accounts of online gambling websites to then block them," said Ade.
In this case, investigators have also confiscated a number of pieces of evidence, one of which is IDR 73 billion in cash.
The tens of billions of rupiah are the total of several foreign currencies confiscated from the suspects.
In detail, the rupiah money is IDR 35,792,110,000 billion, 2,955,779 Singapore dollars or equivalent to IDR 35,043,272,475 (IDR 35 billion).
