JAKARTA - Head of the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) Hinsa Siburian revealed that applications owned by the government are vulnerable to being infiltrated into gambling playgrounds.

He said the phenomenon occurred because cybersecurity against applications was weak. Because, he said, the standards specified for security were not implemented properly.

"We have done that (security) and we have reminded almost 1,200, we have told to fix it with the system," Hinsa said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, November 7.

So far, he has coordinated with the Ministry of Communication and Digital to "take down" government-owned applications that were infiltrated by gambling.

He said the government already has an Online Judicial Handling Task Force formed by the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Kemenkopolhukam) which is now the Ministry of Politics and Security (Kemenkopolkam).

In the task force, BSSN has a role to play in checking vulnerabilities from government-owned systems or applications. He said BSSN had also submitted its monitoring results to the threat of gambling.

Under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto, the government's mission has been emphasized that it will clearly eradicate gambling which often harms the community.

Previously, the Head of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) Ivan Yustiavandana revealed that the circulation of online or online gambling funds in 2024 had reached IDR 283 trillion.

"Talking about the circulation of gambling funds, in the first semester alone it has touched RP174.56 trillion. Currently, in the second semester, PPATK sees that it has reached Rp283 trillion," Ivan said at a hearing with Commission III of the DPR.

Ivan concluded that currently there is an increase related to online gambling developments in Indonesia compared to the previous period, that the number of online gambling transactions in 2023 will reach Rp327.05 trillion and in 2022 it will be Rp104.42 trillion.
