Airplane Ticket Prices Will Drop! Government Forms Special Task Force For More Year-End Holidays

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto announced that the government will immediately discuss steps to reduce domestic plane ticket prices with the Ministry of Transportation and Pertamina. This step was taken to support the Indonesian tourism sector and ease the burden of air transportation costs for the community.

"This will certainly be discussed with the Ministry of Transportation and Pertamina," Airlangga said at a press conference in Jakarta, Sunday, November 3. Airlangga added that the Airlangga Task Force (Satgas) for the Decline in Airline Ticket Prices would continue despite the change of leadership at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, which previously led the formation of this task force.

"The task force will continue, especially regarding domestic flight rates. There will be a meeting with the relevant ministries, including the Ministry of Transportation and Pertamina," said Airlangga.

The Coordinating Minister for the Economy also emphasized that other tourism-related programs, such as the Endowment of Tourism Fund, will continue and continue to be discussed with the Ministry of Finance.

Previously, the Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), stated the importance of this Task Force for ease of mobility and economic growth of the community. AHY argues that the more affordable transportation prices can encourage the regional economy to progress and increase local competitiveness.

"The high transportation cost not only affects mobility, but also has an impact on community productivity," explained AHY.

On the other hand, the Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, said that his party was still waiting for directions from the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy regarding the results of the discussion of the Airline Ticket Price Reduction Task Force. He hopes that the decision regarding ticket prices for domestic aircraft can be reached before Christmas and New Year, given the high demand for transportation ahead of the year-end holiday season.

"I hope that before Christmas and New Year we will already have concrete results from the Task Force," said Dudy at a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday, October 30.

The formation of this Task Force is expected to help the public access air transportation at a more affordable price and support the growth of the tourism and economic sectors in various regions in Indonesia.
