Methamphetamine Packaged In Chili Failed To Be Smuggled Into The Putussibau Rutan In West Kalimantan

JAKARTA - Putussibau Detention Center officers in West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan) managed to thwart an attempt to smuggle methamphetamine into the detention center which was packaged in chilies.

"It is known that the smuggling of methamphetamine at the Class IIB Rutan Kapuas Hulu was thwarted by correctional officers on Tuesday (October 29) at around 12.00 WIB. The narcotics smuggled in the curly chili packaging were addressed to one of the inmates with the initials F," said Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights West Kalimantan, Muhammad Tito Andrianto in Pontianak, Tuesday, October 29, confiscated by Antara.

He said the success of the Kapuas Hulu Detention Center was a form of rtan's high commitment in fighting drug trafficking in prisons.

Related to this, Tito Andrianto appreciated the performance of the officers who succeeded in thwarting this smuggling attempt.

"The performance of the Putussibau Detention Center officers who are always vigilant and working according to the SOP has shown tangible results. We are committed to eradicating narcotics in the prison environment," he said.

Separately, the Head of the Correctional Division, Hernowo Sugiastanto, also expressed his support for the synergy between the Putussibau Detention Center and the Kapuas Hulu Police Narcotics Unit. He emphasized the importance of strengthening communication and cooperation between Law Enforcement Officials (APH) in the context of prevention, eradication, abuse, and illicit trafficking of narcotics (P4GN).

"We will continue to increase surveillance to prevent narcotics smuggling into the detention center and cooperate with the police to uncover drug trafficking networks," he said.

With the disclosure of this case, the Putussibau Detention Center hopes to provide a deterrent effect for those who try to smuggle narcotics into correctional institutions.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Class IIB Putussibau Detention Center, Effendi, explained that the chronology of the incident began when a package was received through a taxi service. Packages containing food and drinks attracted the attention of officers because suspicious plastic packages were found in curly chili packages.

"Officers at the Main Gate (P2U) immediately became suspicious of the package and carried out a detailed examination. Inside the cardboard there were instant noodles, sachet coffee, shallots, garlic, powder, and curly chilies, which found seven packages of methamphetamine weighing about 3 grams," said Effendi.

The officers then reported the findings to the Jaga Commander and the Head of the Detention Center (Karutan), who immediately followed up with further investigations. The identification results show that the suspicious plastic package contains crystalline powder which is strongly suspected to be methamphetamine.

The Putussibau Detention Center immediately reported the incident to the Kapuas Hulu Police Narcotics Unit for further investigation.
