JAKARTA - The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) clarified the statement of Deputy Minister of Finance III Anggito Abimanyu regarding the Maung car made by PT Pindad (Persero) which will be used as an official vehicle for the ranks of ministers to echelon I.
Head of the Communication and Information Services Bureau of the Ministry of Finance Deni Surjantoro said the statement was made during the scientific oration of internal activities at the 15th & Lustrum Anniversary of Gadjah Mada University Vocational School 2024 on Monday.
"The statement was conveyed not in the context of planning, but in order to provide an example of using domestic production as a spirit to strengthen and support the domestic industry," Deni said in a statement in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, October 29.
Deni assessed the importance of this clarification to be conveyed according to the facts so that the public would know the context of the statement of the Deputy Minister of Finance.
Anggito previously mentioned that President Prabowo Subianto would facilitate ministers to all echelon I officials in the current government era in a Maung car made by PT Pindad (Persero) as an official vehicle.
"Next week I will use Maung's car, the Pindad car," said Anggito in Yogyakarta.
According to him, President Prabowo wants the use of imported cars as official vehicles to be eliminated in his government era.
"Pak Prabowo has said that next week there will be no more imported goods for echelon I cars with ministers, extraordinary," said Anggito.
Anggito said Maung's car was designed by Professor Sigit Puji Santosa from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) who is also the Director of PT Pindad with 70 percent using domestic components.
"Later, if you want to see Maung, yesterday Professor Sigit from ITB, President Director of Pindad, said that he designed Indonesian cars, 70 percent of them are domestic products," he said.
Maung itself is a 4x4 light tactical vehicle produced by PT Pindad aimed at supporting close combat operations and difficult terrain cruises.
